Cevea is an independent centre-left think tank that develops progressive ideas for a future Denmark based on freedom, fairness and community.

In the 21st century we have learned that the market alone cannot control the development of society. But neither can the politicians of the competitive democracy. There is a need for grand political ideas and leadership.

The starting point for Cevea is the values of freedom, fairness and community, which together are a modern version of the catchphrase of the French Revolution. These values have been consistent for the progressive left and the labour movement that has wanted to create European welfare societies without armed revolution.

Centre for development of ideas and talents

As a think tank that focuses on ideas-based politics we openly acknowledge that certain political values are the basis of the work of Cevea. The preconditions of our work are in no way hidden.

With the use of the newest available knowledge and our values as the starting point, Cevea produces analyses, policy proposals, op-eds and a popular journal that together should set a progressive agenda in the political debate as well as inspire decision makers and opinion formers.

At present Cevea focuses on three main themes:

• Inequality
• Market fundamentalism
• Danishness

In addition to the analytical work the think tank trains and educates young talented idealists to actively take part in the political debate. Cevea aims to develop a generation of opinion formers that can renew the battle over ideas and fight for freedom, fairness and community.

The flame in the young think tank

Cevea is still in its youth. The think tank was established in September 2008 with the objective of developing new ideas and shaping the political visions of the centre-left.

The think tank is independent of party political interests and is financed by a range of companies, trade unions, foundations and individual people. The organisation is to a large extent based on the enthusiasm of volunteers. Without the commitment and passion of qualified and hard working people Cevea would not be able to exist.
